Methods
Lighting The Future, Layer by Layer.
Each lamp is made to order locally in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Using innovative 3D printing technology, we are able to manufacture our products on demand in our design studio. This next-gen manufacturing method enables us to go from design concept to actual product almost instantly. We are then able to iterate on our designs faster than conventional design and manufacturing methods, allowing us to implement any changes based on feedback quickly. This is all done at a lower cost than traditional manufacturing methods such as injection moulding.
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process. This means that an object is created by laying successive layers of material until the object is created. It imagines an object as being made up of thinly sliced layers and builds it up layer by layer. What does this mean? We are able to reduce material wastage when compared to subtractive manufacturing methods, which involves cutting out or hollowing out a block of material until you have a final object.
At Lampu Lampu, we love the textural qualities of 3D printing filament lines, giving our products that wonderful ASMR quality to the touch. Each of our lamps are unique and may have minor variations in texture and colour as a result of the 3D printing manufacturing process.

Materials
Modern Lighting, Crafted with Care for the Future.
Our 3D printed products are made with plant based polymers such as PLA. We source our PLA from Polymaker where a tree is planted with each spool of polymer purchased. Made from renewable sources such as sugar cane, cornstarch and cassava, PLA is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions. This allows us to create great lighting products while protecting our future.
